Beth Orton’s Daybreaker, released in July 2002 through Heavenly Records in the UK and Astralwerks in the US, is her third full-length studio album and a real turning point. After the acclaim of Trailer Park and Central Reservation, this record finds Orton shifting her sound in a new direction.

Where those earlier releases helped define the late-1990s folktronica movement, Daybreaker leans into a more traditional, organic singer-songwriter approach. It is a confident change of pace that shows another side of Beth Orton without losing the intimacy and character that made her earlier work connect so deeply.
